Inspiration always comes from personal experience

In this semester's expedition, on top of cramond island, I collected some scenes and objects that are meaningful to me. On this island, there are many small black spaces, and these spaces mean fear in the dark for me. But this feeling does not come from my own real feelings, but from my mom's claustrophobia that brings me worry and anxiety. So when I see these small spaces, I can always remember that these spaces might be a hell for claustrophobics.

With that, I picked up some beautiful seashells at the beach. I admit that in my shell picking, I would consciously pick shells that looked dark and closed, such as spiral conchs, which would have a swirling hole, a hole that, if magnified, must have been a horrible association. Maybe it would suck a person spiraling in through the hole...

So I started to try to combine my associations. I closed all the shells I found with glue to make a shell with a confined space. Secondly, I applied some positive and negative shapes to perform topographical experiments. To create this claustrophobic feeling, I even extracted the tones of the mindmap we all made together, trying to match the right tones brought by this sense of oppression. I think this is a very interesting discovery, all aspects of experimentation and searching to get more inspiration and expressions.
